I’m Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger and I’ve played high-stakes poker for the past 20 years.
I’ve won over $24 million playing poker tournaments all over the world and love helping others achieve their goals in the game.
I wrote the Holistic Poker Codex for the poker player interested in strategy, philosophy, mindset and mental game – and how to tie them all together coherently in order to find success playing the game we all love. And, ideally, take some of the ideas and make life better overall.
The book itself is a luxury hardcover collector’s edition with a gold ribbon bookmark to keep your page. I wanted to make it special and memorable, so that it feels more like a timeless relic and less like another generic poker book. I’ve only printed 500 copies and won’t be printing any more of this edition in this style.
Compared to the Holistic Poker Handbook, the Holistic Poker Codex contains a lot more detailed strategic poker information, as well as a number of personal anecdotes, perspectives, and experiences that were monumental to my life and growth and are largely the reason I’m where I am today.
It’s divided into three volumes, each containing seven chapters. The first volume is entirely dedicated to poker strategy. The second volume is primarily ancient philosophy and my views on the nature of reality. The third volume is my attempt at consilience – to bring the two worlds of, broadly speaking, science and spirituality, together.

I have found watching final tables to be one of the most helpful ways to learn poker. Stream gives you a substantial amount of info and an insight inside each pro and by dissecting that info, you gain a great understanding of the game. Over the years, I would pick one player and watch all of his streams to be able learn and get an edge. Having analyzed 3 previous players, I decided it was time to move to a familiar name in the poker community. Having met Andrew at a friend’s party back in 2010, I decided to analyze his game. After watching him for 6 months, I decided to reach out to Andrew for some in person lessons. I particularly liked his style of pot control and his conservative yet aggressive plays. Watching him was very entertaining and educational. Upon meeting, I had many equations and Andrew was very attentive and thorough in explaining concepts and strategies. We also went over a few hands and he broke down each hand very thoughtfully and explained each scenario. The best part was that I didn’t not feel rushed and it was never him ending the session. I can see how passionate he is about the game and that goes beyond anything else that an instructor or a pro can bring to the table. The notes he went over with me felt a bit heavy at the time since it’s difficult to guage each player and where they are in their poker career. I still refer back to those notes and I feel like it was the most valuable lesson to date. His calm demeanor is inviting and I basically can writer a novel on this kid.
